Hello, this is Joshua Minsoo Kim, the editor. Last week, I asked for donations to help sustain Tone Glow and Tune Glue throughout 2021, and we received about $2250 (!) in donations since. I’m extremely grateful for everyone who donated. Multiple people, however, expressed interest in donating via Patreon, and while I’ve had reservations about making it in the past, we’ve now made one and it is live. You can visit our Patreon page here.
I want to make explicit certain things about the Patreon. Firstly, please view becoming a patron as an altruistic act. You should only become a patron if you have money and want to help sustain what we do. I am vehemently against the idea of having anything behind a paywall (especially for experimental music, something that receives little coverage in the first place). Tone Glow and Tune Glue will always be free, and we will never have ads.
Secondly, there are four different tiers of patronage, but all tiers provide access to the same single benefit. That benefit is: being able to participate in a monthly poll that determines an album we will cover in a Tone Glow writers panel. Those who would still like to give one-time donations can still do so via Ko-Fi.
There will be transparency about how much money we receive in donations and how that money is being used. Thanks for your continued support.
